Kaliningrad Region Vacation
The city of Kaliningrad and its region is a unique place where you can spend a great vacation. The region is dotted with nice hotels, restaurants and other tourist attraction. Hotels and restaurants vary from the American standard of “economy” to luxurious five star elegance and quality.
Kaliningrad, formerly known as Konigsberg, is a former German city is nestled in Europe between Poland and Lithuania. The Russian enclave is the country’s most western territory. Historically, the territory which now occupies the city has changed hands numerous times over the centuries. As a result, the architecture and culture represent a confluence and co-mingling of the current and previous occupants of the city.
As you tour the area, you can see old German architecture, medieval castles and Lithuanian style landscapes. All of these structures blend in (and often contrast) with current Russian and former soviet architectural designs.
 The region is blessed to be located right on the Baltic Sea. As a result, the climate during the summer and winter is moderated by the salt spray waters of the sea. The best time to visit is in the summer, especially if you are planning to visit some of the small coastal resorts dotting the beaches of the Kaliningrad region. Some travelers would like to spend winter holidays there and will never forget how Russians celebrate New Year party. Svetlogorsk is a favorite among tourists from European cities as well as Moscow and St. Petersburg.The area in and around Svetlogorsk has million dollar country homes surrounded by Mother Nature. There are numerous forests, hills and sand dunes within striking distance of this resort city.
